Blue Bonnets

I love blue bonnet season in Texas. I had been bugging my dad to take Izzy and I out for a picnic and to see the blue bonnets. He was taking a half day on wed so after I fed Izzy. Kim, Dad, and Kasey came and picked us up. We drove up to Chapel Hill. Sadly, it was toward the end of the season and there was practically NO blue bonnets left. We will definitely go earlier next year. My Dad finally found a small patch of them and we took some cute pictures with the girls.

Changes/ Izzy's Birth Story

OMG so much has changed since I last blogged!! Drew and I have been married for over a year and half and we have a beautiful baby girl. Since having her I have been thinking how I wished I still blogged especially with her growing up so fast. I mean she is already a month old and I love reading old posts and being able to share them with friends and family. I might even go back and blog about the wedding and my pregnancy. The options are endless.  I wanted to share sweet Izzy's birth story

Mommy has seen Dr.P on Wednesday that week and he had noticed that her blood pressure had started to creep up. Your Lala had a similar issue with Uncle Alex. He asked mommy to keep an eye on it at home and to come to the hospital if it was 140/90. Thursday it was elevated several times during the day but mommy was busy getting the house ready for you so she let it slide plus you were moving around in her tummy like crazy so she knew that you were ok. Friday, mommy rested most of the day and that night her blood pressure was 153/93 so she told daddy to start getting everything ready to go to the hospital. When we got close to the hospital Daddy was completely lost on where to park and Mommy was very glad that she was not in active labor. We headed to triage and got a room. Mommy’s pressure was elevated when we got there but after hearing your sweet heartbeat. She seemed to relax. Dr. P called mommy and asked her what she wanted to do, Mommy had been so worried about something happening to you in that I decided we would go ahead and induce labor. The nurse said that labor and delivery was full so we would need to wait on a room. Mommy and Daddy spent 26 hours in the tiniest triage room. Daddy even slept with his head on a table in a chair. Mommy at least had a stretcher. Dr. P checked on us several times but we tried to wait patiently. Not your Daddy’s strong point. Finally when all hope was lost around 1am Saturday morning when Mommy was coming back from the bathroom the nurse toward her it was finally time to get this show started. Our nurse that night was named Brianna. She let mommy take a shower and then we placed a medication called cervadil at 0250 to help prepare mommies cervix for labor. Her most recent dilation had been called fingertip, 50,-3. She told mommy that it would probably take 6 hours till mommy started to really feel some contractions at about. About 30 minutes after she placed that medicine mommy started to really hurt; she wanted to let Daddy sleep so she kind of walked around the room and tried to relax. The contractions got bad; mommy has always had an irritable uterus so it wasn’t surprising that her contractions were bad. She would have these huge stretches of contractions sometimes lasting 5 minutes and only getting 30 seconds of rest. Mommy woke up Daddy to help her deal with contractions. Daddy kept accidently making mommy laugh which would make the contraction way worse. Mommy really wanted to have an all-natural child birth but after several hours of trying to relax, many tears, no change in her cervix, and reassurance from daddy that I should get one. He hated seeing mommy in pain. I finally got my epidural and immediately felt better and as per Daddy and Doctors advice decided to take a nap.  I finally got the epidural around 815. Two hours after my epidural you were not tolerating cervadil and having late decelerations of your heart rate .Mommy’s uterus was popping out contraction after contraction. The nurse removed it and checked me. We were 1cm 70 %. At this point in mommy’s head she was worrying about a C-section. Dr. P came and placed a Foley balloon around 1045. Mommies uterus was hyper stimulated on the balloon and the doctor was worried about that so the pulled out the catheter and checked me. I was 4cm and 70% and a bulging bag of water. I attempted to get some rest. At 145, I started to feel more pressure so they checked me again and I was 5.5 cm and 80%. Then just as the nurse was walking out her water broke. We cleaned me up and I continued to rest and wait for you. At 1430 mommy started to really feel some contractions so she pushed her pain button a few times and still did not get any relief so the anesthesiologist gave me 2 different boluses but the nurse decided to check me at about 1445 and I was 9.5, 90%. They called Dr. P to come to the hospital. He checked me at 1500 and I was complete and ready to push.  I did around 4 sets of 3 pushes and on the last push Dr. P told me I had to stop because your head was out and he had to get dressed. I pushed just one more time and they asked me was I ready to meet my baby girl. The pulled you out and threw you on my chest. It was such an amazing moment. Daddy had tears in his eyes and so did mommy. We were so happy to welcome our sweet baby into the world. We love you so much Isabella.
