Zoo date

Last week we got to go on a wonderful date at the zoo. Drew was crabby about the camera so mostly I just got some good shots of the animals. He wanted to see a cheetah soo bad and it was hiding and we didn't get to see it. After the zoo we went to try a sushi place called blue sushi. It was fantastic. We both got soups to start with, I had the coconut crab and he had Miso soup. We got free edaema for checking in on four square. And then three different sushi plates all were amazing !! We are going to make Blue sushi a regular place we visit and the atmosphere was great to!

I seriously hate snakes, but this picture turned out soo good!!

I can wait to visit an aquarium with my new camera!
One of the few pictures Drew allowed

Blue balls ( the best of the three dishes)

Dragon Roll
We have a game tonight in Waco vs. Kansas State . This week we are finally going to start our registry for the wedding as our date day. I just seem to be checking so many things off of my wedding list very exciting. Right now I am look at photographers which is so hard because I'm very picky and my first choice isn't sure if she can do it so I have to settle with someone else but I have several great options that I have found and today I made my photographer spread sheet to compare. To my the photography is the single most important vendor I will hire because other than memories that is all I will have left from the day and if I could clone myself I would love to shoot my own wedding but sadly that is not an option. I have a busy couple of weeks coming up with all the holidays. Thanksgiving this week with Abby and her family .We have our last football game in 2 weeks and then our first ever cowboys game, then Liz and Jesse's Wedding in Waco and a girls weekend with Kylee and Debi, then my mom, alex, and I's christmas.  Then christmas in new mexcio, and then New years with Drew and finally wedding dress shopping in January! So excited for all this excitement :)

Wedding Update

We have finally picked a date. It only took a good 6 months lol. Our date is Oct. 12, 2013. I was really against October because I hate the number 8 and for other reasons but my dad really wanted it and after we had a massive cold front and mostly because I really just wanted a wedding date, I settled on the 12th. At least the date looks cool and is fun and memorable. By the time I had picked a location, we had seen our far sure of venues. My favorite is still Elmwood gardens but the location was sucky with few hotels. Drew really like A&M gardens but the price was high from just a venue, they did not have on site catering or any vendors that were included. We also looked at Brisco Manor which would have been ideal if the cost was not through the roof. Which is something I have discovered in terms of weddings nothing is cheap! We looked at a venue in Richmond that was closed several months after we visited it. We also went to Oak tree manor, which I loved from the pictures but just was not sold on it after visiting, It just seemed so small like I was getting married in a backyard. Kim had us look at a place in Brenum called Ant street which really started to grow on me until I went to Tuscany  which I loved! The venue is just beautiful and the price was reasonable, they also had catering included and the cake and the DJ, which means three less decisions that I would have to make. Here is some pictures of the beautiful venue.

that's it for now

Meaghan's Birthday

Meaghan and I always make a big fuss about our birthdays! I mean with good reason. Last year could not be outdone but we still wanted to celebrate so the plan was to celebrate this upcoming weekend in houston but when it was discovered that I didn't have to work and Debi was in town we convinced Meaghan to come to Fort worth. We decided Saturday night would be the normal cheesecake factory and Sunday we would be going to six flags over Texas. Meaghan was in a small accident but they were both ok and made it here just as we were about to start eating the furniture.

Sunday we were running late lol what is new, we got to six flags at 12, Drew stayed home to watch football.

We didn't take that  many pictures surprising !

Being a NICU nurse

It has been almost two months since my last post. I can not begin to describe how much I love my job. I get to be there for this tiny babies to hold there tiny little hands and rock them to sleep when they are fussy and mom's cant be there. I had my first baby die that I had taken care off. He didn't die at our hospital but I saw him very sick and on the edge of death. He got NEC and it was so quick the deterioration that I couldn't believe it in 2 days he went from bubble CPAP to an oscillator. He was getting more fluids and had more lines coming out of him it was hard to keep straight. We needed a script just to keep track of all of the orders that were being told.  I was hard that day knowing all of the hard work my team and myself put into this little baby wasn't most likely going to make any difference. I prayed over him asking God to heal him holding back tears. He was so gray, you could just look at him and realize how sick he was. They pulled support on Halloween  what a cruel joke to the family. But I know that he is no longer suffering and find some comfort in that. This week I also took care of the smallest baby most people have seen, he weighted 442 gm that less than a lb. It was amazing to see some thing so tiny fighting so hard. I know that I am gonna see alot of lost in this profession but also alot of joy and that is what I have to hold on to . All the moments when the parents get to hear that there baby is making milestones like when the baby get lines out and they can hold them for the first time, or finally takes his/her first breath not on a ventilator or without O2, or finally completes their first feed. I could go on and on about all the joys that I get to watch and help make. I stole this from a video I posted below. "Being a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world. It can be challenging, difficult and sad at times but the end result can be so worth it"
